CRLT Winter Seminar Series: Registration Now Open

Registration is now open for CRLT's winter seminar series on teaching and learning. These programs offer U-M faculty, graduate students, and postdocs opportunities to gain new perspectives on teaching at Michigan, share ideas across disciplines, and improve their teaching skills. This semester, our offerings include:

They report that the program has helped them become more confident teachers and prepared them well for a competitive academic job search.

Community Resource Student

Hello,

I will be taking on a local high school student during the fall semester as part of her high school Community Resource program. The student must partake in some sort of didactic learning as well as gain a basic understanding of the environment of a scientific lab. Through this time, I will work with her in general laboratory procedures, lead paper discussions, present the necessary background of my field and research, and answer any questions as her mentor throughout the semester.

Regarding the requirements for the Graduate Teacher Certificate, I was wondering if this would count in place of the GSI requirement involving course set up and administration. In addition, I was a teaching assistant for a graduate course (CancBio 554) last semester, and I will be helping in the same way for the course next year. I am wondering which,if any, of the requirements these three activities will fulfill.

Thanks,

Donald Little
