The Campus-Wide New Faculty Orientation (NFO), sponsored by the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching (CRLT), is designed to help new faculty members prepare for their first year at the University of Michigan. The program will begin with welcoming remarks by President Mark Schlissel, Provost Susan Collins, and Vice President for Research Rebecca Cunningham. It will also include a CRLT Players performance followed by breakout sessions in which faculty will have the opportunity to discuss the performance with one another. 

This orientation will not provide information regarding benefits, parking, or other Human Resources related materials. For more information, please visit the U-M Human Resources website.

As a new faculty member, you are cordially invited to attend in your first year of your U-M appointment. Please check with your department, school, or college about any requirements they might have for your attendance.


Yes, if you cannot attend, please still fill out our registration form indicating that you will not be able to attend. The virtual New Faculty Orientation will be recorded and made available to you if you are not able to attend. There will also be a Canvas page with U-M resources that New Faculty can access.
