Have you noticed U-M students’ intense interest in climate change and wanted to find ways to meet that interest through courses you offer (especially in courses that might not directly seem to connect to climate change)? Have you wanted to incorporate climate change into your course but haven’t been able to make the time? Or haven’t been sure whether or where to start? Would you find it helpful to be in conversation with other U-M faculty who plan to incorporate climate change content into their courses? 

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then apply to participate in the Embed Climate Change in Courses (EC3) Retreat on Friday, May 31 and Tuesday June 4, 2024. Sponsored by LSA Undergraduate Education, the LSA Year of Sustainability, PitE and CRLT, the Embed Climate Change in Courses (EC3) Retreat will bring together faculty from the U-M Ann Arbor campus who would be excited to spend time working and learning with others as they develop course materials (syllabi, content units, assignments, activities) focused on climate change for their undergraduate courses. Program details are below. Participants will be eligible to apply for a $1000 undergraduate course development grant at the conclusion of the retreat. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis through May 15 (or until we have reached capacity).

• Date and Time: 9:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 31 and Tuesday, June 4, 2024 
   
• Location: U-M Adventure Education Center at Radrick, 1120 N. Dixboro Rd.
   
• Eligibility: The EC3 retreat is open to U-M Ann Arbor faculty (e.g. tenured, tenure-track, lecturer and clinical instructional) teaching undergraduate courses.  We encourage, but do not require, applicants to find a colleague or thought partner who will also apply.
   
• Preparation: A small set of pre-reads will be circulated prior to the retreat. 
   
• Program Structure: A mix of panels, discussion, individual planning time, and peer feedback.
