The Teaching Foundations Series is a set of workshops designed for graduate students, postdocs, and faculty members looking to establish a solid pedagogical base for teaching in higher education. Any instructor who wants to revisit these foundational concepts is also welcome.
This collection of workshops focuses on evidence-based practices and pedagogical topics that are continually relevant, even as the educational landscape shifts. Topic areas include equity-focused teaching, course and lesson design, instructional strategies, and assessing student learning. They are designed to be applicable across disciplines and teaching contexts.
Across our Teaching Foundations workshops, participants will:
- Converse and exchange ideas with U-M colleagues and CRLT staff
- Reflect on how the material applies or could be modified to their teaching context
- Leave with immediate practical applications to their current or upcoming teaching
Each Teaching Foundations Series workshop is offered at least once per year. Current workshops include*:
