Mentoring Undergraduate and Graduate Student Research: An Online Workshop

Mentoring plays an important role in acculturating students to a discipline. Furthermore, research has shown that women, first-generation college students, and those from historically underrepresented groups derive particularly benefit from effective mentoring. While there are many similarities between classroom teaching and guiding students through research projects, there are also some important differences. This interactive online workshop will prepare participants to mentor undergraduates and graduate students during research projects. Participants will design a research project for an undergraduate or beginning graduate student, devise a mentoring plan, and create a mentoring contract that can be shared with a mentee.
