Active Learning in Engineering

It is crucial to help our students with engagement and motivations, especially in hybrid and remote teaching settings. Providing multiple opportunities for students to think, write, and talk about what we are presenting, helps them learn more effectively and improves recall. Accomplishing this in a hybrid or remote setting can be difficult. Before the session, you will need to work through a module on the basics of and examples of active learning (45 min. of content). The synchronous discussion will give you a chance to tailor them to your teaching context this semester, whether it is lab, office hours, or discussion. Participants will also consider how these strategies are adapted to hybrid, remote, or in-person settings.
