Crafting Futures: Connecting Course Content to Students’ Career Development

Session Abstract: In this interactive in-person workshop, co-sponsored by CRLT and the LSA Opportunity Hub, faculty will learn ways to engage students by making connections between the classroom and the purposeful work students will go on to do. Facilitators will introduce a variety of resources and strategies that instructors can build into their courses to ensure students see the connections between coursework and their future careers or post-baccalaureate education goals. Ample time will be given to learning about participants’ experiences communicating and fielding student questions about career and graduate school, and to discussing and generating unique strategies that fit participants’ unique circumstances.
