New Ways to Engage Students in Interdisciplinary Learning: Pedagogies of Translation

This session explores various disciplinary and interdisciplinary contexts for teaching the concept of translation. How can we make different modes of translation visible to students, both in theory and in practice? The session will include brief presentations from faculty on their ideas about translation in general and, more specifically, their approaches to teaching undergraduates to become more critically aware of the process of translating. An open discussion will follow, reflecting further on pedagogies of translation and ideas for assignments that may serve as potential models or analogies for others. In addition, participants will learn about events, performances, and exhibits planned for the fall LSA Translation Theme Semester. (Lunch will be provided.)
