Teaching Collaborative Writing - Co-sponsored by Sweetland Writing Center

There are many reasons why you might want to ask students to collaborate on a writing project. Perhaps collaborative research and writing is the norm in your academic field, or you believe it represents a type of writing students will be asked to do in the workplace. Perhaps you want to assign a project that is too complex to be accomplished by a single student in the time available.  In this hands-on workshop, faculty from three departments will share their experiences with collaborative writing.  Participants will have the opportunity to think through their rationale for assigning collaborative writing, learn how to address student concerns about collaborative writing, and develop clear guidelines for collaborative writing projects, including practices for responding and grading.
