THIS SESSION IS FULL.
There will be annother identical session held on 10/23 from 10am-12pm. If you are interested in attending this even please see Implementing Inclusive Teaching Principles in Your Courses (10/23).
Research on teaching and learning highlights the importance of an explicitly inclusive classroom climate for student learning. This includes the value of learning collaboratively with diverse peers and the benefits of intentionally connecting course content to students’ life experience and goals for the future. How might these ideas inform your regular classroom practice to result in more inclusive learning environments? In this activities-based workshop, instructors will experience and reflect upon teaching strategies for helping students engage and learn across their differences, as well as for introducing course material in ways that productively draw upon students' various backgrounds and perspectives. This workshop is designed for instructors in any discipline.
