Christine Simonian Bean earned her Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Theatre and Drama from Northwestern University in 2016. She also holds an M.A. in Theatre Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a B.A. in Drama from the University of California, Irvine. Her dissertation focused on theories of spectatorship, reality, and embodiment. She has taught classes in acting, theatre history, and critical race and gender theory, and has worked as both a dramaturg and a performer. Most recently, Christine was an Assistant Director for Faculty Programs and Services at Columbia University's Center for Teaching and Learning with a focus on initiatives related to inclusive teaching and learning. Previously, she worked at the Searle Center for Advancing Learning and Teaching at Northwestern University, where she assisted graduate students and postdoctoral fellows on course design, teaching practices, and professionalization. At CRLT, Christine works with her colleagues to provide strategic direction for the CRLT Theatre Program; integrate programming into college and campus initiatives; and design, facilitate, and assess sessions and curricula that promote a more equitable higher education community.
