Implementing Inclusive Teaching Principles in Your Courses *NEW SESSION*

Each semester, we offer this foundational session as well as workshops on specialized topics in inclusive teaching. This session will be especially useful for faculty and GSIs who are relatively new to thinking deliberately about inclusive teaching practice, though anyone is welcome to attend. Research shows that student learning is enhanced when instructors put thought and action into creating environments that are inclusive of students across a range of backgrounds and identities. How can instructors deliberately cultivate learning environments where all students feel valued, respected, and supported in their learning?  This interactive session will provide structured opportunities for instructors to:

  • Reflect on your own goals and practices related to inclusion and equity in your
    teaching
  • Engage with some key research-based inclusive teaching principles to consider how they might apply to your teaching context
  • Exchange ideas with colleagues about teaching practices in order to support deliberate cultivation of inclusive learning environments at U-M.

This workshop is designed for faculty and GSIs in any discipline.
