Enriching Scholarship 2017 Closing Event (Lunch Reception + Panel Discussion)

As part of this year's weeklong Enriching Scholarship Conference, centered around fostering engaging and effective teaching, learning, and research, we are including a closing keynote event titled “Emerging Landscapes: A Cross-Disciplinary Conversation with U-M Faculty Members” on Friday, May 5 at the U-M Museum of Art (UMMA). This session will feature a light lunch followed by a panel of U-M faculty from various disciplines that will discuss multiple perspectives on pedagogical strategies and approaches to teaching with technology, explore trends and the emerging landscape in technology for teaching and learning across multiple disciplines, and highlight especially impactful teaching practices among our own faculty here at U-M. This event will be moderated by Dr. Mika LaVaque-Manty and include time for a Q&A period.

Dr. LaVaque-Manty is an Arthur F. Thurnau Professor and Associate Professor of Political Science, Director of Undergraduate Studies, and Director of Philosophy, Politics and Economics. U-M faculty panelists will include Dr. Michelle Aebersold (Nursing), Dr. David Chesney (Computer Science and Engineering), Dr. Sabine Gabaron (Romance Languages and Literatures), and Dr. Scott Page (Complex Systems, Political Science, and Economics).

Lunch will be served from 12:15pm-1:00pm and the panel will start promptly at 1:00pm and end at 2:30pm.

The closing keynote panel event will also include a prize drawing! Three lucky and engaged attendees will be awarded a prize at the end of the panel. To be eligible for the drawing, participants must submit one or more of the following: key takeaways from sessions they attended throughout the week, ideas generated from sessions or conversations during Enriching Scholarship, or questions for the closing keynote panelists. Submissions must be entered by 12:00pm on Friday, May 5. Winners must be present at the closing keynote panel when the drawing takes place to claim their prize.
