How to participate in the U-M Graduate Teacher Certificate Program
1. Enroll in the program
Click on the "Enroll in program" link in the navigation menu to the left of this page. Log in using your kerberos password. Answer all the questions and click on submit. Now you are enrolled in the program and may submit documentation for professional development activities using the links in the "My Dashboard" page found in the menu on the left.
2. Complete requirement(s)
You may complete the requirements in any order. However, it may be most beneficial to complete requirement E, Reflection on Instructional Practice, last because this reflective exercise is an opportunity to synthesize and integrate your entire experience in the Certificate program.
3. Submit documentation
For requirements completed with CRLT, including CRLT's GSI Teaching Orientations, ELI994, CRLT workshops, and CRLT consultations, these items will automatically be added to your dashboard. Most items will be added within a month of the event, but items from CRLT in engineering may not be added until the end of the semester. If you think a CRLT workshop or event is missing please email [email protected].
For requirements completed elsewhere, such as departmental GSI orientations, seminars, mentorships, and consultations, you will need to submit documentation. After fulfilling each requirement, visit My Dashboard and enter in the details to verify your successful completion of that activity.
4. Check progress
The My Dashboard page will indicate the status of each of the requirements. The review process can take up to a month after you submit the documentation, so please allow some time for your status to be updated.
5. Finish all requirements
Documentation for all requirements must be submitted and approved by November 15 to be considered for December awards and April 15 to be considered for May awards. Teaching philosophies (Requirement E) must be submitted by October 15 for January awards and March 15 for May awards, to allow sufficient time for review and any necessary revisions.
6. Complete end-of-program survey
Once your documentation has been reviewed and approved, you will receive an end-of-program survey asking you to (1) provide an address to which we should mail your Certificate and (2) give us valuable feedback on the program. The survey is sent twice a year, in early December and in early May.
7. Receive certification in the mail
Using the address you provided in the end-of-program survey, we will send your certificate. You will also receive a digital copy of your certificate.
