Getting Started with Teaching Gamefully

Gameful learning is a pedagogical approach that takes inspiration from how good games function and applies that to the design of learning environments. Gameful pedagogy is grounded in self-determination theory to build student autonomy, competence, and belonging.

This session is intended for instructors who want to incorporate gameful learning pedagogy into their course(s). Participants will learn what gameful learning pedagogy is and how it might be implemented in a range of courses. Faculty panelists will share their own understanding of gameful pedagogy and their experiences in incorporating gameful elements into their own teaching. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with colleagues from multiple units on campus and to consider potential next steps for implementing this teaching approach in their own course(s).

Lunch will be provided.
