CRLT Players Present Cuts: Responding to Student Climate Concerns

Cuts: Responding to Student Climate Concerns follows Mariam, a young Muslim American student at the University of Michigan, as she encounters a series of negative interactions on campus over a two-year period. These experiences are punctuated by projections of incidents of bias and hate across Michigan and the wider U.S. Taken together, this performance demonstrates the stacking effect that campus incidents of aggression/invalidation and external occurrences of violence have on people who hold marginalized identities. Through facilitated discussion, audiences reflect on their proximity to or distance from the performance, examine intervention strategies, and consider ways to make more inclusive spaces.
