Developing Your Teaching Philosophy

Many academic employers require a teaching philosophy statement as part of the application process. In this interactive session, we will consider teaching philosophy statements as a particular type of academic writing.  We will discuss research on hiring committees’ use of teaching philosophy statements to evaluate candidates’ teaching, examine and assess sample philosophies, and work through activities designed to help participants begin the process of writing their own statement.
