The Emerging Technology workshop series highlights tools that have proven to be useful for promoting active student engagement both inside and outside the classroom. The four highlighted tools, Piazza, Socrative, Jing, and CTools Lesson Builder, are adaptable to a variety of instructional goals and class sizes. Participants will be introduced to each tool before the seminar through 1-2 short videos or readings (<10 minutes). At the workshop, participants will explore the affordances of the tools in a hands-on guided tour and will reflect on potential uses for their own teaching. We’ll also provide tips and advice from faculty who have successfully implemented the tools. Participants who attend one or more of the workshops will have an opportunity to register for a one-on-one consultation to further explore integration of one or more tools in their courses.
