Participants in this session will hear from a panel of U-M instructors engaged in learning analytics projects on campus.  The focus of the panel discussion will be less on the findings of their research and more on their experience of engaging in this new field of research:  What sources of data did these investigators use?  What were some of the stumbling blocks to accessing and analyzing big data? What advice do these investigators have for instructors interested in investigating their students’ learning?  And importantly, how did engaging in this research change their teaching practices?
