Getting Started With Community Engagement in Your Course

What is community engagement? Why should you infuse it in your course?  Where do you begin? This participatory workshop for faculty (and GSIswho are teaching their own courses) addresses these questions and others.  The session addresses types of community engagement and initial considerations before including a community engagement experience in a course. The workshop will highlight support opportunities available through the Engaged Learning Partnerships at the Ginsberg Center for Community Service Learning as well as other campus resources. Participants will leave this workshop with a basic level of knowledge about community engagement to begin the process of integrating this experience into their  course.

Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring a draft syllabus for any course that presents an opportunity to infuse a community engagement learning experience.

*For GSIs, if you are the instructor of record, you may request entry for this workshop. Please indicate which course you are teaching in the comments section.
