Tools First: How Can Emerging Digital Scholarship Tools Inspire Your Teaching?

In this workshop, Justin Schell, head of the new Design Lab in Shapiro Library, will give an overview of a variety of emerging digital scholarship tools and how you can get started with them. Tools like text/data mining, Twitter analysis, visualization and mapping offer exciting new avenues and questions you can explore in both your classroom and your research. In addition to learning how to incorporate and combine these tools into projects large and small, he’ll introduce the new Design Lab and what it has to offer for faculty and graduate students. Participants should bring a laptop to try out tools and participate in hands-on activities.
