Preventing and Addressing Disruptive Behavior in the Classroom

An event co-sponsored by the office of the Associate Dean for Graduate Education

Disrespectful treatment of other students, interruptions of faculty presentations, viewing of inappropriate websites during class: many faculty have felt that such student behaviors are on the rise in recent years. How can you set up a learning environment that prevents such incivilities--and respond effectively as a teacher if they do occur? This workshop, co-facilitated by experts from CRLT, CRLT-Engin, and the Program on Intergroup Relations (IGR), will focus on specific research-based strategies for setting up and maintaining respectful classrooms and provide opportunities to practice these approaches.
