Gameful Pedagogy: Planning Your Course

This session is intended for instructors who want to incorporate gameful learning pedagogy into their course(s). Participants will think through a variety of course design elements, such as how to provide students with possibilities for choice or how to structure assignments and grades.  Participants will have the opportunity for hands-on course planning and consultants will be available to answer questions.

Although participants are not required to have attended the first session in this Gameful Pedagogy series, this session will build on the principles discussed in the first session. Thus, familiarity with the gameful learning pedagogy framework is strongly encouraged.  Please bring a course syllabus with you to aid in your course planning.

Lunch will be provided.

Please note that this is the second session out of three in a faculty learning community series about gameful learning pedagogy.  By attending the faculty learning community, participants will join a cohort of interested faculty to explore gameful pedagogy (9/29), work through a gameful course planning process (10/13), and determine how to implement the gameful pedagogy (11/3). Participants are encouraged, but not required, to attend all the sessions in the series. A fourth session (11/17) will be dedicated to the use of GradeCraft for those specifically interested in using this tool to implement their gameful pedagogy.

Additionally, an engineering-specific, gameful pedagogy event will take place on 11/2.
