Community Engagement Series - Engaged Design: Developing Community-Based Learning Courses
Co-sponsored by: Edward Ginsberg Center for Community Service and Learning, Center for Engaged Academic Learning
Have you been thinking about integrating community engagement into a new or existing course? In this co-led session, we will discuss ways to promote student learning through experiences in communities. We will explore key principles and promising practices for developing effective community-based learning (CBL) courses. Participants will begin applying these ideas to their own courses, so please bring a course idea or description.
This session will be the first in a three-part series of Community Engagement Workshops that follows an opening address by Hiram Fitzgerald, Associate Provost of Michigan State University (1/31). For more information on the other Community Engagement Workshop sessions, please see Effective & Ethical Partnering (3/8) and Maximizing Impact with Strategic Course Design (4/5).
