Broadening Participation in STEM: Research-Based Strategies for Institutions and Faculty

CRLT, CRLT in Engineering, and the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) program are pleased to welcome Dr. Lindsey E. Malcom-Piqueux from the Center for Urban Education (CUE) at the University of Southern California.

In this research presentation, Dr. Malcolm-Piqueux will argue that efforts to close equity gaps in STEM fields have faltered because of their reliance on traditional, deficit-based perspectives of student success. She will offer an alternative approach to understanding and addressing equity gaps through equity-minded practice and present research-based strategies for equity-minded practice in STEM education, both inside and outside of the classroom.
