Managing Academic Identities in Digital Spaces

This interactive workshop explores strategies to facilitate meaningful academic exchanges with students and colleagues in digital spaces. Through a series of activities, participants will consider issues of privacy, copyright, accessibility, and etiquette that arise when working and teaching in these dynamic environments. In part 1, we will discuss best practices and considerations for managing academic identities across various platforms. In part 2, we will focus on the the specific advantages and challenges of facilitating student engagement in digital spaces. In part 3, we will spend time actively evaluating our own academic identities and considering ways to leverage digital spaces to promote professional development and student learning. Participants are encouraged to bring laptops or other mobile devices to this session.
