Mentoring Undergraduate and Graduate Student Research: An Online Workshop

This interactive online workshop will prepare participants to mentor undergraduates and graduate students during research projects. There are many similarities between classroom teaching and guiding students through research projects, but also some important differences. Further, mentoring plays an important role in acculturating students to a discipline, and furthermore, women, first-generation college students, and those from historically underrepresented groups have been shown to particularly benefit from effective mentoring. This workshop will help you design a research project for an undergraduate or beginning graduate student, devise a mentoring plan, and create a mentoring contract that can be shared with a mentee.
