Overview of the Project:
We propose to create a resource of online video demonstrations/lectures to support a "flipped classroom" approach to the teaching of 1st year Foundations courses in the Stamps School of Art and Design, increasing the quality of instruction across multiple sections and maximizing valuable interaction between instructors and students.

Continuation:
Our next step will be to broaden faculty and student awareness of the videos and encourage their use, while continuing to collect constructive criticisms that could help in revising current videos and in structuring new ones. Professor Stephanie Tharp, who is the Foundations Coordinator in Stamps, is making the videos accessible via Canvas. Suggestions from faculty regarding possible future videos include: “CNC with Rhino” and “Using the Print Lab.”
Dissemination:
During the grant period of Sept. 2014 – Dec. 2015, we were, thanks to Whitaker funding, able to produce 8 videos that cover several important topics in the field of art and design. These instructional videos were placed on a common Vimeo site and made available to all Stamps foundation faculty. Videos have been used as a supplement to hands-on studio activity and as a reference guide for students.
